Katy began her photography journey in high school, where she joined the yearbook staff and took her first video editing class. She went on to study photography at California State University, Sacramento in 2011, eventually transferring back to her hometown and earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts (with a photo emphasis) at Boise State University in 2016.

She loves to experiment with different types of film photography, enjoying the unexpected results along the way. She is a fan of the snapshot aesthetic, relating the imperfect qualities to that of the chaotic nature of life's moments.

Her digital photography work focuses on textures, playing with light, and occasionally using people as a compositional element. It can have a photo-essay feel to it, as nostalgia and the longing for “ideal” moments have a visual impact similar to a home movie or photo album.
